Proposed Pilot Projects Seeking Funding

The funds raised by Solar Village SDG CIC will go for setting up several of Solar Village SDG’s pilot projects towards assuring the sustainable development goals on SDG4 Education:

  • Online book club to teach English to rural children at Panapitiya Agamathi Vidyalaya a “model school” we are supporting in Kalutara district

  • Cottage Gardens project to teach school children about growing and harvesting their own vegetables and food for self-sufficiency

  • Period myth busting fact sheet to educate young girls through the schools we are supporting on feminine hygiene and what is happening to them

  • Reusable sanitary towel project to help girls stay in school during the time of their periods so that girls do not miss vital school days due to period poverty

As well as the Agamathi "model" school, the associated schools we wish to support with the Online Book club are:

  • WP/KL/Musaeus College, Kaluthara North

  • St John Boscos College, Kaluaggala

We would also like to support a pre-school nursery for deprived children in Wattala!
